Emmett Rocks Like Jerry Douglas. This is a very impressive CD of 6 wonderful songs sang and performed by Emmitt. I love the sound of the dobro played right and am a longtime fan of its master Jerry Douglas, particularly with Alison Krauss & Union Station. When played by a master, such as Jerry Douglas or Emmitt Franz, it can be made to almost sing in such a beautiful manner that it seems alive. Looking back at all of the videos of The Petersens posted over a decade period, they’ve always been impressive, but they became truly special as a whole with the addition of Emmitt to the instrumentation in 2017 and with the addition of his, and the youngest Julianne’s singing to the magical mix that is now The Petersens. Emmitt previously played with another special family band, the Franz Family Band with parents Randy and Ruth Ann, Emmitt and siblings. Looking at their videos I found that Emmitt is not only a great musician and singer, but also a very admirable person and a beautiful soul. Emmitt’s, Randy’s and family beautiful tributes in song to his mom who passed in 2016, could touch and comfort any heart. I was reminded of when I lost my wife, and my children their mother and who were left with severe lifelong injuries when they were 4, 7 and 11 by a drunken speeder who crashed into them as they were going to pick me up at the airport. The Petersens and Emmett are blessed to have each other and we are blessed to have them, and so support them and buy their CDs!

Emmett Franz is an extraordinary musician and lyricist, and this album is evidence of that. While I love the incredibly talented Petersens, the band would not be quite the same without him.
I would absolutely love to see Emmett be given the opportunity to perform another one of his fabulous songs with the Petersens, especially “Had You So Wrong” (hint, hint 😉).

Through The Petersens, I found out about Emmett’s CD. Impressive compositions. Goose-chills on my favorite tracks “Lucy Gray” and “Moments”…

Emmett is one sick puppy. (In a good way, lol) I will not spoil it for you. You will see for yourself when you listen to track 5, “I Know.”
This CD is a bit of a departure from the bluegrass that oozes from the uber talented Petersens. While the Irish influences are still there, it would be hard for me to categorize what this man does with the Dobro.
I can listen to this CD over and over. Then I give it a little rest, and come back and listen to it over and over again. I like every song on the CD.
Whoever wrote the blog on his profile picture on this site, described it best when they called him a “musical genius.” What a huge talent.
We recently had tickets to the Branson Show, but did not make it due to unforseen circumstances. We will be coming to see them this summer, for sure.

Now a side comment; Grey Wolf Pass – no doubt a very challenging composition to play, but one of my very favorites.
True bluegrass perfection. Yet apparently neither you nor that family offer it as a single, There is only a concert that holds thar song. I wish that someone would offer a recording as a single.
