    The Album

Homesick for a Country is The Petersens first all-gospel album. The album contains the most requested songs The Petersens have performed in their Branson show over the past two years. These songs have meant so much to our family and it is an honor to see the Lord use them to reach people’s hearts and to be a part of that. The album is dedicated to our sweet grandpa, Jim Yocum, and dear friend, Renee Paxton, who are waiting for us on the far side banks of Jordan.

    Discography

The album was produced by John Chapman and engineered by Bill Chapman, both members of the award-winning Chapmans. The album was mastered by Caleb Lindsey from The Lindsey Family. The instrumentation on the project is as follows: Guitar – Matt Petersen, Second Guitar – John Chapman, Mandolin – Jeremy Chapman, Bass – Karen Petersen, Fiddle – Katie Petersen, Banjo – Ellen Petersen, Dobro – Emmett Franz. Vocals on all the tracks are by Katie, Ellen, Matthew, and Julianne Petersen. Vocals are by Katie Petersen, Ellen Petersen, Matt Petersen, and Julianne Petersen. Prodigal Son was recorded live at the Little Opry Theatre.

I wasn’t into gospel music until I heard his album. It really is amazing from Sweet Beulah Land to the live acapella in the final track.

Ashamed to admit I was not familiar with your work until someone brought it to my attention. Phenomenal job at keeping a classic American music style alive! Need to catch up on other discs!

I have been a lifelong traditional country, folk and bluegrass fan. Your music came up in my YouTube suggestions during the height of COVID-19 isolation while I worked from home. This album was my first purchase from your amazing group and I’ve since bought two more. I’ll keep at it until the collection is complete. Every song is top quality and the musicianship among each of you is outstanding. God bless!

I discovered the Petersen Family Band on Linkedin this summer. A friend connection had posted their “Take me Home Country Roads” asking business connections to take 3mins and 20secs to enjoy this beautiful rendition of Country Roads. We live on Rabel Moutain outside of Charleston, WV and our kids both went to WVU for their graduate degrees. Was wondering if it was Bream Presbyterian Church that Mr. Petersen(your Dad) used to attend in Charleston, WV. We hope the Petersen Band will find its way to West Virginia for a performance in the future. You could pack out the Charleston Civic Center with just the Country Roads song. 🙂 I have not heard this CD yet but have asked for it for Christmas. Have heard a lot of the songs on YouTube and really enjoy them. Hope I make the good list this year so I get that CD for Christmas. Have a Blessed Thanksgiving All!

Healing Songs. On this CD, you will find comforting songs from the awesome Petersens that can lift your spirits, help heal a wounded heart, and bring peace and happiness in uncertain times including the present. This band is a true class act that shines bright from their genuine (not staged like so many) talent and the obvious love for their family and others which is apparent in these songs!

I bought a copy of this CD at the Branson show on 6/22 and all the Petersens signed it for me after the show. They are just as personable as you would expect them to be! My favorites on the disc are “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow” and “Far Side Banks of Jordan,” but all 10 songs are GREAT!

I was very blessed that the lord showed this band to me when he did. I was undoubtedly going through the toughest part of my life. God is truly showing himself to his people through this family. The music they play is so pure and is played with true joy, the kind of joy that can only come from God. When listening to their gospel music, all the garbage in this world completely disappears. Thank you for sharing your music with us. I can only imagine what it will be like to sing songs of worship like this in heaven.

I saw your Videos at Youtube. Just had to buy your CDS.
    Greetings from Germany.

This album is wonderful….. Well, so are the rest of your songs. You got me listening to Blue Grass and Folk again.

I am just wondering if you folks are planning in putting something out on vinyl? Your instrumentals and vocals would be absolutely transcendent on vinyl.

I’m late to the party, but oh what a glorious party it is! Praise God! Thank you Petersens and Emmett, this album is wonderful.
